Coronavirus Announcement

Coronavirus impact on our practice

Consultations

We are business as usual in terms of our surgical practice however we are moving to a predominant Telehealth based consultation model.

For the coming weeks, most consultations will be conducted remotely using Skype or Facetime technology consistent with current recommended personal safety requirements.

In certain circumstances, such as patients requiring Lap Band adjustments, face-to-face consultations can be arranged was long as standard low exposure risk requirements are met:

  1. No overseas travel or contact with people who have been overseas within the last 14 days
  2. No symptoms of fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath.
  3. No contact with known COVID-19 positive individual in the last 14 days.

Our telehealth consultations are currently bulk billed.

Note regarding Elective Surgeries

At this stage there is no indication of any elective surgery shut downs within the Epworth Eastern or Epworth Richmond hospitals.  However it is generally expected that elective surgery may be curtailed as COVID-19 cases accrue within the hospital system in the coming weeks and months.

We are arranging extra lists as a priority to get as many cases done as possible in late March and April in anticipation of possible elective surgery shut downs occurring subsequent to this.

If you are interested in undertaking weight loss or other surgery types as early as possible with a view to avoiding the high risk times ahead please contact us ASAP and we will attempt to expedite things for you as best possible.

Please call 03 9895 7222 or email info@melbournecbs.com.au to discuss this option.
